Headaches
Headaches refer to the discomfort and pain throughout the upper neck, head and face. The pain and intensity of a headache varies from person to person, depending on the type and underlying cause. The most common types include migraine and tension-type (which make up 95% of total reported cases). Headaches are one of the largest contributors to time taken off work or reduced positivity.

What Causes Headaches?
Tension-type and cervicogenic headaches are the most commonly seen headache at 4 Life Chiropractic. The cause of these headaches is often referred pain from structures in the neck and lower part of the skull. Most neck muscles and joints will refer to pain throughout the head, and if inflamed or chronically tight can result in a headache. The reason for these structures becoming inflamed include overuse and poor ergonomics/posture.
Migraines present as severe throbbing headaches, sometimes with associated vision and auditory changes. The triggers of migraines vary; however, the cause is thought to be the result of hormonal changes and their involvement in pain regulation.
